Asipim (Chair), Asante, An asipim chair has no arms and a slightly inclined back, and it signifies "I stand firm." It is reserved for the ruling elite, and is used at important assemblies and debates. Its form is based on 17th and 18th century European models. Both seat and back of this example are covered in brass rather than leather.
